Such a "merge/reset" is not possible.

You have to choose ONE account and ONE user-id and than forget the second totally.

If you want to use the selected Id on the wiki where you not yet are a member - than make an applyment on this and try to get membership.

Normally it is forbidden to use a second account & user-id on wikidot…( read the TOS - the Terms of Service -link bottom right ) but in your situation it seems to be a simple mistake at the start-up of your live here on wikidot.

To use only one ID makes the llife here a little bit simpler..

Hello all! By mistake I created two different wikidot accounts for the two wikis i am member of… Is there any way for me to merge the accounts? I want to login one time and use both wikis and have the same karma in both of them… Is that possible? Thank you in advance! :-)

You have the same problem as admins with an open wiki and the wish to "hide" something ….

If you want a private-private forum the only possible way today is to create a second ( "private" !) wiki only allowed to the "privileged" members you want anf to create a second forum here.

I have a wiki which is private and I would like to invite a few members. However, on the forum of my site, I have a couple threads discussing the potential new members which I would prefer they not have access to. I'd like to save the threads if possible instead of deleting them - is there any way to restrict viewing specific forum threads to specific members?

1. the general answer is no, not implemented.
2. it makes no difference it the site is private or public.
3. I think, the date of being last logged in would be not really helpfull, because it can be never clear, if i had red the posts before this moment ( ot not) - there is no link vailable beetwen the user, any logging date and a post - id.
4. best idea is ( as Craig said) to use a RSS reader for all your forums. But it is clear, not every internet user wants to learn to handle & use such RSS technic…

Again: I am not sure if a last "logged in" date&time ( or better l"ogging out" ) would be really helpfull

Hi all,

to those of you who are in the know, I would be grateful for a solution to the archiving question posed above. Our wiki is becoming very large, and a method of archiving posts by date so that they are still searchable, but separated from the main content is much needed. Can anyone help?

the wiki is great by the way,

Gar

My solution is to use an RSS reader for all my wikidot forums. My RSS reader handles read vs. not read. I don't think it is possible; however it would make a fine request on the wishlist. If no one else comes up with an alternative, we can add it.

Is there a way to mark posts as "read" in the discussion forums? We have just added forums to our wiki and it's very annoying to not be able to see if there are unread posts in a thread without clicking on the thread and scrolling through. I know you should be able to theoretically tell if there are unread post by looking at the time stamp of the most recent post and remembering when you were in there last but that's asking a lot of people who are involved in multiple forums on multiple sites - especially where other sites clearly show read and unread.

If it makes a difference, this is a private wiki so all participants are logged in.

TIA!

You're actually probably better off using colour compression even if you're using png, because it will make image downloads from your page much smaller and more manageable (especially for slower connections). For anything but photographs, 256-colour is almost indistinguishable from full colour, but it will save you a lot of space/bandwidth. It's all about the manner in which you reduce the colour count. If you let me know which graphics program you're using, I can help you out with that (unless it's MS Paint… paint is useless for indexed colour ^^;).

Another way that may work more reliably is to embed an iframe containing javascript code and an html form. Something like the code:

[[embed]] [[/embed]]

can give you an iframe with some HTML file. The one in the example contains the code:

Random Number

 Minumum: Maximum:

and it therefore gives you (with some security warnings):

Thanks for your response :) Yeah that's what I'd been doing… but I hate .gif cos it reduces the picture quality so much… was hoping there might be a way to sort out .PNG files cos now I know that most of the people on my forum can't see the black… it's only a few of us that the transparency doesn't work for on there so was hoping there might be a browser setting we could change or something.

Thanks anyway :) x

it might have to do with with what browser they're using. internet explorer does not support .PNG transparency and fills in a solid background—although some websites use a hack to fix this. you might be better off with transparent .gif which is supported by all browsers.

I'm not sure if I'm in the right place… was just searching on google for help with .PNG files and ended up on here… I'm not sure if it's the right place to sign up to ask this.

Anywayyy… Just wondering if anyone knows why .PNG transparent background files sometimes display a black backround? The backgrounds are always transparent when in a normal picture viewer on the computer, but when I view them on forums they have a black background. Until today I assumed this was the same on everyones' computer, on the particular forum that I use, but found out today that some people see a black background and some people see the same images with no background… Is there some setting I need to change or something for the .PNGs to work properly on the internet? Cos they're fine on the computer itself. Not sure if I'm making any sense!

Thanks for your time,

Emma x
