Basically, I have a few pages where I attach my files, depending on the type of file (mostly images). I'd like to have on the front page some sort of 'most recently uploaded images' section…

Any way to do this? I don't want to list /pages/ but files. RecentChanges doesn't seem to do this. Anything I'm missing here?

I put it on the pro-beta site as a wish ( ticket:107 ) let us see what comes out..

I think this is a good index search possibility of manual build "indexes".. ( with Listpages module)

I took a look at your site and agree that at this point you will need a work-around. I predict that as your pages grow, so will the complexity and combination of tags used. I think this will be a problem unless you establish and underlying organizational structure for types of businesses and geographic locations. I know from first hand experience that this will require significant leg work on your part. But in the end it will be worth it, esp if your site becomes ultra-popular. Look at Craigslist, they have a separate page for each geographic area and then they use these separate pages to organize data, you may need to do the same thing.

I have a site that had a similar challenge as yours. You might wish to read how I handled it: Craigslist Clone

If you come up with any other solutions I would be very interested in them.

I made a workaround:

1. Create a "result" page like "searchtag:listtags", containing the module ListPages:

This is a list of pages with the wished search-string in Page "searchtag:tags": [[include searchtag:tags]] ---- [[module ListPages category="*" \ [[include searchtag:tags]] perPage="9" limit="19" order="dateEditDesc"]] **%%linked_title%%** Date-edited: **%%date_edited%%** Author: **%%author%%** Tags: %%tags%% [[/module]] ----

2. create the "tags" page to be included in the resulting page: "searchtag:tags", containing only the tags="…" attribute for the listpages module and the " \"

tags="list list1 list2 search" \

or
tags="+dentist,+dublin" \
like in your example..

You can test it - this works!

3. I tried it with "_templates" ( instead of the resulting page) and an automatic insertion of the tags- page and its "content" - but this does not really work…

Hope this helps for the moment?

Good idea!

1. The wishlist can be filled by members ( copying your text) - that is not the problem. Better is to copy it ot the Pro-beta testers ( a private site now ) - where bugs and wishes are controlled more effectively by a tracker: system.

2. This "tracker" system will be made public later on a official wikidot site because it is easier to be followed by the developers / -team.

3. You wish of a user firendly search over two or more tags is a very good idea. What i think - it should be possible to create a searchtag: category with a variant of the "ListPage" module ( where you can select over more tags/(+,-) and/or categories.

I mean - a template offering only a little form to key in tags like "+dublin,+dentist" which gives used in a "ListPages" ONLY those pages back. ( whereas a tag search for "dublin , dentist) gives pages back which have as a minimum of one of these tags linked.

I have to think about this… perhaps some of the other ListPages + _template "gurus" can help?

On my wiki, I have about 150 tags and I think that it would be really helpful if we could have an easy to use search on two tags.
I don't want to prepare a list of 150 x 150 pages since the list of currently alive tags keeps growing.

Right now the tag feature looks good, a user just clicks on a tag and gets the results.
But it would be really great if a user could choose two and get the results.
For example on my wiki ( www.BigWiki.biz ) which is hosted by wikidot.com, each page is a business.
A page could have the tags 'dublin' and 'dentist'.
Right now if a user comes along they can either get all the pages tagged with 'dentist' or all the pages tagged with 'dublin'.
But it would be fantastic if they could get all pages tagged with both.

I am aware that if a user spends lots of time reading through the manual, they'll be able to set-up their specific search, but it is far from user friendly.

My follow-on request would be to allow the tags to be categorised.
For example, I'd have localtion tags and business type tags, then a user could choose the location and the business type.

I tried to add a request to http://community.wikidot.com/wishlist, but it seems that I don't have the necessary permissions.

Possibly the easiest way to see which bits of CSS you'll need to adjust for this is to do it in Firefox and get hold of the Firebug addon. This lets you inspect all the elements and experiment on the fly with CSS changes without actually making them live. Doing this I have managed to strip out the borders, footer, licence and everything else on your page bar the title and content. If I was doing this live I would note down the elements that needed changing and then put them into my own custom css theme (you create it in admin:manage). And I have always found it useful to have my css theme in a category and page called css:theme which gets uploaded. I've probably told you stuff you already knew but I hope it helps.
Rob
