Correct, it would be easier to understand that only "public" contributions are shown.

Sorry, a clear "no" to find "private" contributions…

No chance - privat is privat..
EVEN if you are a member of a private site you will NOT see the contributions of the searched user written to a private site!

I just wanted to express my importance for captions on each thumbnailed picture uploaded to the site using the file button at the page lower right menu. We have a wiki site that is dedicated to a particular on-line game. We have a group of members that wish to upload a picture of their game charactors but at this time we have no way to use this function productively. The simple method of the user selecting file and uploading the picture is perfect. The page looks well done with one problem, we don't know who the particular photos belong to without looking at the page history. And non-member site visitors don't have any way at all to know who these photos belong to.

Using Picassa, flikr, etc. is way to complicated for our users to be comfortable with. Please try to address this issue. You gave us a piece of perfection with the Gallery module, now we are ready for it to be finished.

I'm cheating just a little bit here since I work with Matthew. The above thread leaves out one important limitation- a site must be public in order to see all of a user's contributions. Contributions made to private wikis will not show up using this method. Makes sense from a security point of view, but it took me a little time troubleshooting to understand (the liability of being an IT layman).

This feature has just been implemented in a new module called “ListPages”.

To list all pages from a category and with a specific tag, use:

 [[module ListPages category="_default" tags="news" separate="false" rssEmbed="false" rssShow="false"]] %%linked_title%% [[/module]]

There are lots of additional ListPages features available: specify more than one category; specifiy more than one tag; sort the output, etc. — see the preliminary documentation for ListPages that is available.

Matthew, when I go to http://www.wikidot.com/user:info/matthewlee and click on “Recent contributions” or “Recent posts/comments” I can see your contributions.

Sorry, this doesn't work anymore. When I click on the recent posts there are none when I know they exist.

Okay, so the code does exist then, someone must know it or it would not be in use. Unfortunately there is no way to view the wiki-syntax source on those user information pages though…. Anyone???

Just in case you didn't know: as a shortcut for now, you can use Ctrl+E to edit a page (and Ctrl+S to save it).

Hello,

In some wiki (like wikini) you can edit a page very simply :
by a double click in a empty zone of the page.
Perhaps this feature can be added to wikidot.

It's easy to check your own recent contributions and recent posts and comments.

To do that by Wikidot member is more difficult: you'd need to go to http://www.wikidot.com/user:info/name-of-wikidot-member and then click on “Recent contributions” and “Recent posts/comments”. As far as I understand Wikidot does not provide direct URL links for that.

I second this. There is a limit to how many pages I can make, because it takes too much time to go through each one to make a simple change. This is a necessary function!

I agree — meta tags for search engine optimization. I just bumped against this recently.
It would be great if we could focus search keywords this way.
Seems like this would also be helpful to engage directly with Google webmaster tools.

Another one is when a user tries to go into the manage site page and is not logged in. The permission error box says" You have no permission to configure the site properties. Only site admins are allowed to do it.But right now you are not even logged in…".

Is there any possibility of a slightly less fierce message which might say something like"Sorry, you have no permission to configure the site properties unless you are a site admin and logged in".

I found a little bug with Include.
You can't make the variables links…

The Content Template

 **Children:** {$children}

And at the page

 |children=[[[Eric]]]

The results

 [# | Eric] ]]

Due to the ]]] in the variable.

Can this be fixed?
