Yes but it would probably require a complete re-write of your site-wide CSS. I am not aware of any sites on Wikidot that have been optimized for phones. But have a look at the thread at http://community.wikidot.com/forum/t-438436 where Ed discussed responsive web design. It is something I will be looking into closely over the next few months and I suspect we will be trying to use responsive web design for the complete re-design of the Wikidot community site during this year.

I found an alternative google image search api example and have re-worked the javascript and css slightly so that it returns just a single image, there is no search bar and the image is larger than it was in the previous version. I was kind of hoping the text would wrap but when I tried it alot of elements did not.

That was helpful, I tried to cut and paste just the cell, table, and div elements and it kind of borked the page (my fault im sure) so for now I have just left it as is… Even on yours the bottom two containers look funny, as if they don't properly wrap text.
Perhaps a set width is just easier and more stable.

Yes, because we can pass the value of a dataform field into an html block (which I think is a very recent addition to the functionality) it's possible to use the google image search api to do this. The code is below and I have set it to search for the latin name on wikipedia but you will probably have a different source.

but it would be interesting, if you use in the code the div tag with the class="google_translate", which is probably not defined on your site… in the "module CSS" of the page or "site-wide" CSS definitions.

The code inserted above is inserted on our nav:side menu - have a look on the source of this page!

And: you can use the google transltion here from "english" to ever language goolge can translate - and I get no empty lines on my browser output ? !

This brings me to a new question:

  • which "browser" on

If you change the browser width you'll see that the left and right cells remain at 50% of the width of the top row.
