It's certainly a radical change! But I think the bright red is too bright and takes your focus away from the text. You could soften the colours a bit and still keep the impact of the site.

This is only the front page. Besides, the red color is the color of emperors and kings, and my site is about them :). The other one was ok, but a little bit flavourless and hard to remember. This one is simply impossible to forget :D…
Other pages where the real text is have white background with black letters. Cant be more readable… ;)

This is why I get very jealous of Ottoman sultans. The harem that is, not the garlic.
