It's been over two years since the original Calendars app developed by the Wikidot community was released, and a lot has changed since then on Wikidot. So, I've taken some of the new features on Wikidot to create one very simple and easy to install calendar app. I present you:

» simpleCal «

The simplest, easiest to use and most beautiful native Wikidot calendar app yet!

simpleCal comes in four variants: mini, wide, full and agenda. Here is a preview of the four different layouts:

Mini Layout

Wide Layout

Full Layout
full-sized calendar with toggle event list

Features

  • zero-config includes (for current month)
  • CSS3 transitions
  • hovertips indicating time ago and time till event
  • one-click event creation
  • the AMAZING popup event list! (click on a date to see what I mean!)

Advantages/Disadvantages

Advantages:

  • Dead easy to install and use
  • Different layouts to suit your needs
  • Supports years from 1970 - 2080 (and more on request)
  • Auto-updating to current month/year if no date is set

Disadvantages:

  • Does not work inside modules such as ListPages, ListUsers, etc…
  • Does not support legacy browsers such as IE 7 and 8

How simple is it?

It's really simple. It has only one pre-installation step, and that is auto-numbering of categories. All you have to do is set the cal category as auto-numbered and you're ready to embed the calendars onto your Wikidot site!

Have a read of the installation guide. It's literally two steps.

Acknowledgements

Just wanted to say thanks to James Kanjo for helping out with this project, especially with his handy bug-finding skills — ironing out many bugs before my release :D Without him, some insanely awesome features would not have existed - such as the event popup list!
