Istorijska Biblioteka Draws Attention In Scientific Circles

Istorijska Biblioteka got again attention in scientific circles. Historical Archive of Serbia published a very positive review on our site in its Social Sciences Yearbook, in a chapter on Web sites review. The subject of a review were the web sites with Byzantine topics, and they thought our site deserves to be mentioned. I copy here the whole text:

У оквиру Историјске библиотеке, интернет енциклопедије на српском језику, поред других и веома квалитетних текстова из области политичке, војне и историје књижевности, могу се пронаћи и чланци посвећени историји Византије и византологији. Поред одредница везаних за политичку историју, који су нанизани у рубрици Византијско царство, претражујући сајт путем тагова наилазимо и на текстове посвећене византијским историчарима, византолозима и изворима за историју Византије. Занимљиво је да се на сајту налази и Речник византијских титула, али је нерегистрованим корисницима онемогућен приступ. Требало би скренути пажњу да је ту обимну библиотеку могуће претраживати према неколико критеријума: задате речи, садржаја, азбучног реда, категорије, тагова. Важно је напоменути и да је ова библиотека иако у неким деловима обогаћена популарним рубрикама (Занимљивост дана, Да ли сте знали, Из штампе…), веома озбиљно и научно утемељена, а то се види у великом броју извора и научне литературе који су коришћени у њеном креирању, што је ретка појава у нашем сајбер простору. Због свега тога уредницима Историјске библиотеке (Урош Миливојевић, Милош Милојевић, Наташа Пешић) треба честитати на добро замишљеној и реализованој идеји.

Within Historical Library, an Internet Encyclopedia in Serbian language, apart from many different high-quality texts from political, military and literature history, there are also some articles dedicated to history of Byzantine Empire and byzantology. Searching the site with the help of tags, besides texts on political history listed in the Byzantine Empire category, we can find texts on byzantine historians, byzantologists and sources for Byzantine history. It is interesting that there's also a Byzantine titles dictionary, but it is limited only for registered users. This large library can be searched against a number of different criteria: by word, through its contents, alphabetical order, categories and tags. It is important to mention that although this library also contains the popular part (Curiosity of the day, Did you know…? From the press…), it is based on serious and scientific sources, which can be seen from its bibliography used for creating the contents, and which is vary rare practice in our cyber space. For all this, the editorial board (Uros Milivojevic, Milos Milojevic and Natasa Pesic) should be congratulated to this very well imagined and realized idea.
